Our Trip to the Big Apple (New
York City)
June 2002
Day 2 continued
We decided it was time to visit "The Lady" and so, in 90+ degree temperatures, we stood in line and boarded the Statue of Liberty Ferry. The boats are huge and can take up to 1,000 people at a time! Thank heavens for me taking my cane - it not only kept Pat happy but let us sit in preferred seating on the ferry.

Again, this photo does the Lady no justice. She is immense and awe-inspiring and brings out every sense of American Spirit you have.

This is kind of a funky photo but to me, it reminded me
that there is always sun shining on our land, despite what might happen to us.
We didn't have a lot of time left in our day, so we didn't get to Ellis Island. The only photo I have of it was from the Ferry.

And this is Ground Zero from the Ferry...

Totally exhausted from this day, and knowing we were off to the

that night, we decided to take the Gray Line back to the
hotel. But, the person who was the tour guide was an idiot, so we got off,
walked a little and ran into...

The United Nations. They were closed.. <g>
We grabbed a cab, went back to the hotel and rested up to have the ABSOLUTELY best time of our lives in the second row center stage of the

(can't tell we liked this play can you?? It was set
in Buffalo!!! The playwright didn't know much about England and decided to set
it in NY since it was more familiar to him. They even mentioned Watertown in the
play, which set us right over the edge!) If you want to know more about the
play, just click on the playbill above.
