Our Trip to the Big Apple (New
York City)
June 2002
Day 3
Well, we were absolutely exhausted from our night before. We totally enjoyed the Full Monty and Jamie and Paula loved the Lion King. After we got out of the play, we headed for our favorite deli, The Carnegie Deli. I have never in my life seen the size of the deli sandwiches like I did there. It was midnight by the time we got to the Deli and I ordered a chicken salad BLT, and Pat ordered a hot roast beef sandwich. He must have had two pounds of meat on his sandwich, and I was only able to eat 1/4 of mine. The place is very cramped and you do get to know your neighbor intimately (well, maybe NOT that intimately). Our neighbor was a fairly good looking guy... tall, dark hair, and he played baseball... Mike Piazza! Now, I'm not a baseball fan, or is Pat, but he was quite a nice guy, and while I tried to bring him home for Penny, he just wouldn't oblige! :*)
Bright and early, we awoke on Day 3 to begin our adventure. However, some people just didn't like to wake up...

But, after the promise of SHOPPING, it's amazing what will happen to an almost 22 year old!

We headed off, cameras and video cams in hand.. but Poor Pat - he kept asking...

How much more film, Honey??
Our day was to include a jump on the Gray Line Tour Bus to go to Chinatown (Paula and Jamie wanted to shop) and we were off to Greenwich Village. But first, we all planned to go to

The Empire State Building. Now keep in mind, Paula hates
heights, so we did ascend by elevator 80 floors and waited in line once again.
While we did, however, we saw these wonderful photos...

Pat loved this one.. it was a guy stuck in a manhole
probably during the aftermath of 9/11. Notice - no buttcrack.

When we were at Wall Street, we did so want to see the
Bull, but couldn't find it, so this was the closest we got to it. We found out
later it was near Trinity Church.

This is the Flatiron Building during a snowstorm in NYC.
Gee, we get more snow than that in Watertown.
Paula wouldn't join us outside on the observation deck but we were so proud she went up that far. She shopped, and we walked and took pictures - Jamie wasn't even sick!

We left the ESB (by the way, this is their website Empire State Building) and got back on the Gray Line. We were off to Greenwich Village, and told Paula and Jamie we'd meet up with them to do the Subway ride.
Greenwich Village is lots of fun but very confusing. It's divided into the West Village and the East Village. We preferred the West Village, and walked into

You might not be able to see the marquis, but it is the
home of Inside the Actor's Studio, which is on the Bravo network. After walking
and shopping, we had lunch on MacDougall St., and then found

Washington Square. This is a neat place to hang out and people watch.
On to.......Day 3 (second page)
