The Saga of Paddy the Plumber Wanna-Be Bearstone
Many of you know that Pat
and I own a plumbing, heating and air-conditioning company. One of our hopes is
that Gary and the Boyds Collection, Ltd.® would include in their Bearstone line
a plumber bear. After all - who still makes house calls, cleans up your
unmentionable wastes, and gets no glory for this!
This all started some years ago when I called and spoke to Gary on QVC and said,
"You know.. you really need this in the line". He agreed, but decided
the butt-crack problem might be too difficult! LOL
It wasn't though, as he designed Sparky the Electrician some years later. In my never-ending pursuit of a plumber bearstone, I harped and harped to Gary every chance I could. Plumber-bear became the chant of the day! Finally, about a year ago, I asked a very talented lady and fellow-MOBster Lisa Chadwick, if she would be interested in helping me with the Plumber-Bear Pursuit! She agreed, and this talented woman designed a stone like you never have seen. Talk about mixed media! Lisa designed the piece you are about to see, and without her, it could have never been done.. The concept was a simple one...and here is the scene...
Poor ol' Paddy the Plumber from Bear Butt Plumbing - he's been trying for days to unplug Marge's toilet! Seems as though there is a plastic hamburger that has been deposited by one of the puppies (probably it was Will!) and he just can't get it out. Marge is getting tired of him being in her bathroom - she can't get her hair done, and she's just about to crig him with the frying pan, complete with the fried egg! Coco the Bunny is busily trying to pull the back of his pants down to deposit heaven knows what there, while Maggie is looking in the toilet trying to help. Of course, Will is trying not to let Coco see what's in store for her! Notice there is water all over the floor -- Guess that must be another reason Marge is so nervous! Besides, he's got all his tools spread all over the place, his how-to books in the water, and there's a radio playing in the background - must be his favorite song, "Take this Job and Shove it!"
Hope you like this as much as we do -- now if Boyds would, we'd be happy plumbers!

We ask humbly that you don't steal this photo - it's the property of Lisa Chadwick and it's only fair to her since it is her creation! Thank you so much for your understanding.
7/31/01 - an update on Paddy... according to sources at Boyds, and I quote "I don't know about the plumber bear.." Oh well.. at least we tried! :*(
